Food Against Hunger provides life-saving, life-sustaining and life-enriching humanitarian support to under-served populations around the 10 states of the Republic of South Sudan regardless of faith or nationality.

Food security and Livelihood(FSL)

Food Against Hunger focuses on training and educating communities to find lasting solutions to the challenges they face – hunger, poverty and disease.

Our programs contribute to improving the social, economic and physical resources available to and controlled by a community. This makes our programs very efficient and creates lasting change rather than a short-term fix.

The goal is to achieve long-lasting improvements in people’s lives and the community, not quick fixes that depend on outside assistance.

Protection (GBV and Child Protection)

Recognising the interconnected needs of child and adolescent survivors, it is evident that Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Child Protection actors have overlapping responsibilities in regard to response, mitigation, prevention and preparedness. Actors must cooperate to generate better knowledge, develop skills and expand resources.
Both GBV and Child Protection minimum standards reiterate the need for intersectoral cooperation. Increasingly complex emergencies require the collaboration between different disciplines to understand and address new and growing needs affecting girls and boys.

Nutrition Programs

The provision of free or affordable health and nutrition services is vital in the protection of children and in reducing separation from their caretakers.  This need is extremely prevalent in areas affected by large scale HIV/AIDS infection rates, poverty, and armed conflict.

For children to develop healthily, they must have access to adequate health care and nutrition. Families with sick members may be unable to work or provide adequate care. Children in these circumstances run the danger of quitting school to take care of a sick adult and labor to make up for lost wages. The child faces a lot of adverse consequences, such as living on the streets or being placed in institutional care, if the caregiver passes away from the illness.
